Jewelry
I was never really interested in jewelry beyond wearing it, until I saw someone selling jewelry they had made by hand. I looked through her entire collection and my eyes were opened to an entirely new genre of art.
I examined every aspect of the necklace I held in my hands. I focused on the materials used, the methods employed, the patterns of the beads, the colors used and so forth. After spending time analyzing every facet of this piece, I had found a new calling.
After that, I spent three months learning how to make two aspects of jewelry. I first started with the stringing style, focusing on bead patterns. Continuing on, I then directed my learning to beadweaving. The intricate patterns seduced my mind, as it often became a matter of trial and error and learning many lessons that I was not being taught by the authors of the books I read.
Eventually, I became good at creating pieces of jewelry in the many different forms available. I eventually went on to sell many of my pieces and have received a number of commissions. It has been an art form that I have enjoyed tremendously and still dabble in to this day.
